Recognizing the accomplishments of Jennifer Garner, award-winning actress and outstanding West Virginian.

Whereas, Jennifer Garner is the daughter of B. J. and Pat Garner of Charleston. She attended Oakwood Elementary School, John Adams Junior High School and graduated from George Washington High School. She was active in numerous West Virginia stage productions, including the Charleston Light Opera Guild, the Sunrise Dance Program and the Appalachian Youth Jazz Ballet; and she twice cohosted the prestigious West Virginia Governor's Awards for the Arts; and
Whereas, Jennifer Garner attended Denison University on three scholarships and received a bachelor of fine arts degree, concentrating on theater, dance and voice; and
Whereas, Jennifer Garner has established herself as one of the nation's most outstanding actresses. After a guest-starring appearance on the WB network drama Felicity, she costarred in the Fox television show Time of Your Life. In January, 2002, she won a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series for her portrayal as "Sydney Bristow" in the ABC television series Alias, which earned a People's Choice Award for Best New Drama Series; and
Whereas, Jennifer Garner has also been recognized for outstanding performances in network-TV movies, including Hallmark Hall of Fame's Rose Hill and Harvest of Fire; Dead Man's Walk; Aftershock Earthquake in New York; and Zoya; and
Whereas, Jennifer Garner has acted in such major motion pictures as Pearl Harbor; Dude, Where's My Car?; Mr. Magoo; Reconstructing Harry; and Washington Square; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the accomplishments of Jennifer Garner, award-winning actress and outstanding West Virginian; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby congratulates Jennifer Garner on her recent Golden Globe win for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Jennifer Garner and her family.
